Friday Apr 16, 2021
What did the podcaster in my mouth say to you?!
On this episode of TIA, we're reviewing season 1 of Dorohedoro, based on the manga by Q Hayashida. We're talking about lizard dudes, gyoza fairies, giant cockroaches, mushrooms, buff ladies, baseball, and the power of friendship. Everything else is still lost in chaos.
In the pre-show, we discuss the cancellation of Animazement 2021 and what we hope to see conventions learn from virtual events once things return to "normal." Get vaccinated, everyone!

Ahoy, straw hats! In this episode of the Third Impact Anime Podcast, we're happy to have with us writer, podcaster, and Twitter pun-lord, Grant the Thief! Grant is 1/3rd of the Asian media podcast, the Blade Licking Thieves, and is currently the weekly One Piece anime reviewer for Anime News Network. Bill caught up with Grant to discuss Asian media broadly, his love for One Piece, and the life of being a turbo nerd online (something we can all relate to).
You can listen to Grant on his own podcasts, the Blade Licking Thieves as well as the Super Senpai Podcast, a tokusatsu podcast. Also, read his weekly One Piece reviews on Anime News Network.

Kotatsu Corner #2 - Toucan, Too Furious
Sunday Jan 31, 2021
Sunday Jan 31, 2021
Remember when we were going to start a mini-series? Well WE STILL ARE because now there are TWO OF THEM!
Kotatsu Corner is a mini-sode series where we take a break from our typical, highly organized episodes and just chat about whatever is on our minds. Naturally, most of the things on our minds are anime, video games, books, movies, and the occasional international pandemic.
In this episode of miscellaneous chatting, Tobias, Ryan, Bill, and Sully talk about the Scott Pilgrim video game getting a re-release, Detective Conan, Super Mario 3D World, Lucas Films Games news, and other random whatevers.
Enjoy!

Christmas was over a week ago now, but the festivities can't stop until we release a Christmas episode of some kind so, here it is!
Sully takes us on a holly jolly journey into the second Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon feature film, Hearts on Ice, or just Sailor Moon S: The Movie. He's joined by fellow guardians, Will from Mid Shelf Gaming, and first-time guest, Anna from the OSMCast!, another excellent podcast you should listen to.
They discuss the interesting release history of the film, the life of living legend Megumi Hayashibara, the fact that this is only kind-of a Christmas movie, why cats shouldn't eat candy, and how this film connects to Anna's job?!
Stuff your stockings with this first episode of Third Impact Anime for 2021, and we sure hope this year is infinitely better than the last one.

#102 - Kaiba (2008)
Thursday Nov 12, 2020
Thursday Nov 12, 2020
Wow guys, this one took a while to come out! We recorded this way back in the far off time of June 2020 and had to delay it to make space for our 100th episode celebration. But now that's firmly in the past and we can release this into the wild!
Bill takes us on a planet-hopping journey with Kaiba, Masaaki Yuasa's 2008 television series. He is joined in his body-swapping adventures by Tobias and Edwin, as they take a look at Osamu Tezuka's influence, the transhumanist themes, and the surreal visuals of the series, as well as plot Kaiba's place in Yuasa's catalog.

#101 - Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
Thursday Oct 01, 2020
Thursday Oct 01, 2020
Put on your masks, it's a toxic jungle out there!
This time, Tobias, Austin, and Sully discuss Hayao Miyazaki's sophomore feature, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, an adaptation of his original manga work.
We discuss the film's development, legacy, messages, the involvement of Evangelion's Hideaki Anno, and how a film about wearing masks and taking care of our fragile ecosystem is more relevant than ever in 2020.
This episode is brought to you by the fine folks at Shout Factory and GKIDS. At the time of this recording, you can get the brand new Studio Ghibli 6-film collection on Apple TV and save $20!

#100 - Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) and 100th Episode Celebration!
Sunday Sep 20, 2020
Sunday Sep 20, 2020
Wow we finally made it episode 100! What better way to celebrate than by discussing the anime our name comes from... Neon Genesis Evangelion!
What can really be said about Eva that hasn't been said already? Who knows, but we're going to give it a shot! The tales of Shinji, Rei, and Asuka have captivated the hearts and minds of audiences for 25 years and counting, with a new film on the horizon that will hopefully be released... eventually.
After reflecting on making it to 100 episodes, we give an overview of the series followed by discussing how we first got into NGE, our favorite characters, the series' major themes, and what we think audiences young and old can get out of NGE in 2020 and beyond.
(Note: Evangelion is an incredibly dense topic and for that reason, we elected to limit our scope to just discussing the 1995 TV series for this episode. Podcasts on the 2 original films and the Rebuild films will follow... one day!)
Thank you so much to everyone who has listened to us, attended our panels, or otherwise supported us over the years. We'll continue striving to make the best podcast we can. Here's to another 100!
Special thanks to everyone who contributed to our "Congratulations" chorus, including an incredibly special cameo from Amanda Winn Lee, director of the ADV & Manga Entertainment Evangelion dubs and the original voice of Rei Ayanami! Huge thanks to Amanda for helping us celebrate.
"Congratulations" Chorus contributors (in order of appearance): @BokuSatchii, @itsbasiltime, Karissa, Ryan, @calva_kun, @The_Sommelier, @hankforeman91, @Toaster_Mike, Anna, Rensei, @thegentlejan, @CrusherJones, Paul, MetaPotato, Cameron, Kush, @Nubbles, @uniquexharmony, @SwooshxBear, @amandawinnlee
